One-liner: Both pages sell video by a meter, and the meters are not the same unit. Spira Maxima is the social-video model inside Spira AI — script in, finished vertical post out, presenter and captions included — and it sits at #1 on Product Hunt’s October 2026 monthly leaderboard. ngram builds longer 16:9 explainer video from your own source material (a document, a URL, screenshots, a screen recording) and prices it in credits per generated second. Everything below was read from the two vendors’ own pricing pages on 2026-10-16.

Two smaller differences worth knowing before you compare headline prices: ngram’s annual view is a flat 20% off every tier, while Spira’s yearly Growth price ($39 against $59) works out to roughly 34% off on the same page that advertises “40% OFF” in its banner. And Spira’s Growth card renders its three credit figures (“2,500 5,000/mo 15,000”) without labels, so the middle number is the one to treat with care until the vendor labels them.

Which is cheaper per second, Spira Maxima or ngram?

This is the question both pages avoid, because they price different units. Here is the arithmetic on the published capacities — treat it as a floor, not a quote:

Plan Monthly price Published capacity Implied cost per second
Spira Maxima (any paying plan) $0.09 per second of finished video — $0.09 ($0.075 during the launch month)
ngram Basic $29 300s premium footage ~$0.097
ngram Premium $59 ($47.20 yearly) 1,000s premium footage ~$0.059 (~$0.047 yearly)
ngram Ultimate $299 ($239.20 yearly) 5,000s premium footage $0.060 ($0.048 yearly)

Read the last column with the meters in mind. ngram’s seconds are generated footage that you then assemble, re-cut and export — an edit that re-renders four scenes spends four scenes’ worth of seconds, and the cheaper 3-credit/second model stretches the same allowance about threefold. Spira’s seconds are finished output: the presenter, motion graphics, captions and music arrive with the generation, and the Generate button prints the exact charge before it runs. A cheaper second that needs an editor and a designer is not automatically the cheaper second that gets published.

What each free tier actually gives you

Neither free tier is a publishing plan, but they fail in opposite directions.

Spira’s 50 free credits are a length cap. Free output stops at 20 seconds with a 400-character script, against 60 seconds on Creator ($15) and 90 seconds on Growth ($59) — and “Remove Watermark” is a listed feature of both paid tiers, so the free tier’s ceiling is a watermark rather than a limit you can work around.

ngram’s 600 credits are a one-time audition. They cover about 60 seconds of premium footage, export watermarked at 720p, and nothing refreshes. The company’s bigger ongoing free offer is elsewhere on the site: a blog-partner programme that turns your posts into branded videos with a public link and embed code. Manual video edits are unlimited even on the free plan, which says something about where ngram thinks the real cost sits — in generation, not in fixing.

Who should pick which

  • Pick Spira Maxima if the deliverable is a vertical post for TikTok, X or LinkedIn, and you want the caption, music, pacing and publishing schedule handled in the same place as the generation. The influencer-agent accounts and “unlimited social account automation” on the paid tiers are the product’s actual differentiator against every model that only renders a clip.
  • Pick ngram if the source material already exists — a PDF, a product doc, a landing page, a screen recording — and the job is a 16:9 explainer that has to stay current as the product changes. The 20% annual discount and the one-cycle rollover also make it the softer option for lumpy month-to-month workloads.
  • Pick neither if you need one video. Both sell a workflow; a single explainer is usually cheaper commissioned, and neither vendor’s free tier produces something you would put your name on.

What we deliberately didn’t test

No account on either platform, no rendered video, no side-by-side quality judgement and no score. Neither page was exercised with the same input, so any claim about which tool produces the better post would be invented. Both prices per second above are the vendors’ own figures; the implied per-second costs for ngram are arithmetic on its published capacities, and the #1 leaderboard position is a third-party read made on 2026-10-16, not a vendor claim. The 4.6/5 review badge is printed by ngram on its own pricing page and has not been verified independently.
